Description

Amac is a keylogger marketed as a monitoring tool for employers, parents, and schools. However, like all keystroke logging software, it can be used to record the activity of any computer on which it is installed.

Formerly offered by Amac Software Co., Ltd., and related to the Aobo and EaseMon keyloggers, Amac is designed to run undetected in the background of the Mac on which it is installed, without any telltale icons or folders visible to the user. The software can be accessed by the person who installed it by using a special hotkey, and can also be password protected. Once active, the keylogger records all keystrokes entered on the system — including passwords — and stores them in log files.

In addition, Amac is able to record web activity and create full logs of conversations from many popular messaging applications such as Skype, iChat, and so on. The software can also be programmed to take screenshots of the computer’s desktop at predefined intervals. Amac also has a tracking function, which can record the IP address of whatever network the host machine is connected to and include this information in its logs. All data collected by the keylogger is covertly transmitted to whoever controls the program, either by email or via FTP upload.
