SecureMac Celebrates Two Years of The Checklist Podcast

Las Vegas, Nevada — With more than 118 episodes in the history books, SecureMac is proud to mark the passing of two years since the initial launch of The Checklist, a weekly privacy and security-focused podcast for users of iOS, macOS, and all things Apple. Hosted by Ken Ray, creator of the long-running and enduringly popular show Mac OS Ken, and SecureMac’s own founder Nicholas Raba, and lead developer Nicholas Ptacek, The Checklist aims to be an easily accessible source of important security news. In an increasingly dangerous digital age, knowledge of the threats users face is a potent tool in avoiding those same threats.

What’s new at the two-year mark? A brand-new co-host joins the show, with Los Angeles-based developer and entrepreneur August Trometer teaming up Ken Ray in the booth. Previously the CTO and HIPAA Security Officer for Santa Monica startup HomeHero, his wealth of experience in digital security and hands-on experience with consumer-facing challenges leave him well-positioned to contribute immensely to The Checklist’s weekly discussions.

“We’re excited not only to welcome August to the team,” said Nicholas Raba, “but also to continue providing Apple users with a valuable source of news and information about the security issues that affect them most. With concerns about digital privacy and security at all-time highs, we’re all looking forward to the opportunity to continue connecting with our audience for another two years and beyond.”

With the two-year mark in the books, The Checklist’s 100+ episodes now span a wide array of subjects and provide users with a robust resource for learning. Recent episodes include in-depth looks at the security fixes and flaws found in iOS 12 and macOS Mojave, tips on safely using hotel wi-fi networks, and weekly views on some of the biggest headlines in contemporary security news. Each episode is accompanied by complete show notes available on SecureMac.com/Checklist.

The Checklist is also available for instant listening on iTunes, Spotify, the iHeartRadio app, and many other streaming services. New episodes appear every Thursday.

More About August

August Trometer is no stranger to development or the Apple ecosystem. With 15 years of overall experience in crafting consumer applications, August was one of the very first developers with software available on the iOS App Store. Before that, he developed the first commercially available “podcatcher,” iPodderX.  Passionate about technology and the many ways it can open doors and create exciting opportunities, he also feels a responsibility to help educate others about the potential dangers presented by the misuse of technology. By joining the team on The Checklist, he hopes to help dispel common security myths while spreading the awareness necessary for the development of a safer, more secure digital future.
