Information:
Password Protect Folders (PPF) is
designed to password protect personal folders on local or remote disks. One
or more folders are dragged and dropped onto the AppleScript, assigned a
user defined password and then made invisible. Folders are restored by
relaunching the application, selecting one or more folders in a dialog box
and then entering the correct password. A text file is maintained to keep
track of the locations of all currently hidden folders.
Views:
PPF is a a low level security program which runs as an AppleScript to
toggle the visibility resource on selected folders. Folder paths are
recorded in a text file and within the applescript. To restore visibility,
the user can select one or more hidden folders and enter the correct
password . Multiple users and passwords can be stored in the registered
version within the AppleScript. There is no encryption of the passwords; PPF
is only intended to prevent little brothers from trashing your most valued
files.
Download Version:
Demo version works for 10 cycles of hiding and making re-visible. If you
register for the price of $10 US, you get an unlimited single user version
as well as a multiple user version which keeps track of 10 users passwords
and hidden folders. You can download from our site v1.8.4 or from the the authors site.

Insecurity:
This program is not meant to be a really secure product. As stated above,
it just toggles the hidden file resource on the application, file or
folder. If you forget the password or just want to peek at your little
brother's files, well you can use ResEdit to get info on the
file or folder and change it back to normal!. There are many more ways then
listed here, if you know of one please email us. We are more than happy
to research and post it here!
