AT EASE

Many times I get asked, "How do I bypass At Ease?". Finally, here is a guide to hacking At Ease.

The first thing you'll want to do is get to the Finder. The easiest way to go about doing this is to hit the programmer's switch, (either command-power, or the button with a circle on the front of the computer) and type G FINDER in the box that appears and hitting Enter. The Finder boots up and you are now free to do whatever you want.

If you want to find out the administrator's password install InvisibleOasis (hopefully included with this file) and wait a few days. The sysadmin password should be recorded. You can also pull a null password by opening the At Ease Preferences (System Folder: At Ease: At Ease Preferences) with a text editor. (Simpletext may work depending on the size of the prefs file.) Look for the entry: MFDR\ ]. Delete everything between "\" and "]". You can now enter whatever you want as a password in the At Ease Setup screen!

NOTE: Some older versions of At Ease, (1.0 and maybe others) you can crash At Ease by opening as many applications as possible. When the computer rund out of RAM, it will ask if you want to quit At Ease to free up RAM. (Duh!)

One other way to break out of At Ease is to use a utillity such as At Peace or DisEase. (DisEase should be included with this file or is available from my www site, http://www.yatho.com/weasel/ )

The only problem is generally you don't have Finder access to open the floppy containing AtPeace or Disease. All you need to do is follow the above instructions on getting to the Finder before using all the fun At Ease havocing tools!
